Birthstones

The new collection of Birthstone Petite figures from Royal Doulton, designed by renowned artist Neil Faulkner, once again draws upon the ancient tradition of different birthstones associated with each month of the year. This goes back in history to the Old Testament and the breastplate of the prophet Aaron which was embellished with 12 precious stones. While each stone has its own symbolism, overall they are thought to bring good luck and good health.

The collection comprises of 12 variations on one beautifully crafted and hand painted fine bone china figure whose natural elegance is depicted in her flowing soft grey and cream gown with a delicately patterned skirt. With glossy long brown hair swept over one shoulder, soft features and blue eyes, each month’s figure is embellished with different coloured birthstones according to the tradition. These are represented by a gold necklace which holds a genuine, vibrant Swarovski crystal together with the same colour reflected in the feminine floral pattern on her dress.
